I Create Environments for Worship...
Mike caught the live-production bug in high school. Roped into running house lights for the school's production of Lil' Abner, he fell in love with theatrical technology. A few years later, he was leading his first volunteer tech team; his best friend Mark and two foreign exchange students with no technical experience and a limited grasp of the English language. A few years have passed since then, but the love for live production has only grown. Every weekend, he still gets excited when the house lights go down; only now instead of entertaining small-town parents and grandparents, he gets to help create an atmosphere where people connect with their creator.
In addition to ministering in a local church setting, Mike's influence has expanded nationally through his widely read blog, Church Tech Arts. He also hosts the weekly podcast, Church Tech Weekly. Known as a strategic thinker and authority on church technology, Mike has authored magazine articles; is a guest writer for ProSound Web; hosts monthly webinars on church technology; heads up the SoCal region of the national Church Tech Directors Roundtable; has a large and growing following on Twitter; and in his spare time is writing a book tentatively titled Technically Speaking.
With an infectious dedication to excellence, he thoroughly enjoys helping others create the best worship experience possible. Normally quiet and reserved, if asked to talk about the use of technology in worship or vision and strategy, he will go on for hours. Also known for writing about himself in the third person, he is glad you stopped by and hopes you'll look through this site, then visit the blog to see what he's currently thinking.
...With People and Technology.
