my availablity...

Until recently I was the Technical Arts/IT Director at a young, vibrant yet small church plant called Upper Room. Originally a subministry of a much larger church, we launched out on our own in early 2009. The combination of a soft economy and the demands of a smaller budget led to the elimination of my position this May.

I am currently seeking my next opportunity for service in the Kingdom. My skill set and experience make me a great fit for the positions of Technical Arts Director, Service Producer, Director of Technical Ministires, Director of Media or a similiar yet much more creative title.

my passions...Mike Pic

Worship--The chief aim of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. One way we do that through corporate worship. There are few things I enjoy more than leading the Body of Christ into authentic worship experiences.
Excellence--I hold excellence as a priority in all things.pixel
Continuous improvement is part of my lifestyle, not a simply a program.
Learning--I’m a lifelong student. Even after 20 years of workingpixel
in the technical arts, learning something new every day is still exciting.
Teaching--I’ve dedicated my life to learning the technicalpixel arts and media production. I’ve picked up a few things along the way, and now I can’t decide which is more fun; doing it or teaching it.

how i describe me...

An innovative visionary who sees possibilities that don't yet exist. Able to visualize a project as complete and develop the most efficient path to the highest quality product.

An ingenious problem solver who learns quickly, analyzes issues and needs, creates and implements elegant solutions, anticipating problems and planning contingencies to ensure optimal outcomes.

A team builder who seeks to invest in the lives of others; a mentor who thoroughly enjoys helping others reach their full potential; a teacher who loves seeing the light bulbs go off in the minds of others.

how others describe me...

"I've worked with some really, really good technical directors and you are right there at the top of the list. Your combination of significant technical knowledge and ability to motivate and inspire people really sets you apart. Your presence here is a huge gift to me."
pixel-Craig, Creative Director and boss

"Thank yo u so much for all your help. You are a great trainer, a great technician and a great organizer. We've had no problems at all this year, and we really appreciate all the work you've done to help make that happen."
pixel-Sandra, BSF Leader; thanking me for training and equipping their media team.

“What nice things to say! This is very thoughtful and kind of you to send this to me, and only confirms again the high opinion I have of you each time we work together. You are very talented yet so humble about it.”
pixel- Deb, video tech volunteer; thanking me for thanking her for a great job every weekend.

“And Mike, I feel that you were one of the musicians because of the degree of control you had over our balance, volume and tone. It takes a musical ear and a lot of experience to do a good job mixing a band using only Aviom monitors on stage. Many people who attended commented on how well they could hear everything.”
pixel- Robert, musician extraordinaire; in reference to mixing the Good Friday services.

“Nice job Mike. Seriously - this is awesome. There are so FEW churches that have strong coaching and standardization like this…”
pixel-Melody, Worship Arts Pastor (and boss); commenting on an e-newsletter I sent to my sound tech volunteers.

"This is the first time since I've played here that I've actually heard my bass in the system. And my wife, who is quite attuned to these things has commented on how much better the sound has been [since you've been mixing]. It's been a real blessing to have you here."
pixel-Bruce, bass player & worship leader; in reference to my mixing of the contemporary services.

“Thanks for working so hard for His Kingdom. I can’t tell you how much I love working with you. Thanks, Mike.”
pixel- Jon, Youth Pastor; commenting on my work with Student Ministries.

“I think we probably complain too much, and I know we don’t say this enough, but thank you. You’re doing and awesome job, the services have never sounded better. Thanks for being here.”
pixel-Mike, worship team vocalist; on my role as sound engineer.

“Yeah...thanks. Really. I love your leadership style. You’re so good at what you do. So...uh...thanks!”
pixel- Bethany, worship leader; in response to some encouragement I offered after a tough weekend.

“I am sooooo glad you are taking the time to do this class. You have no idea what it means to me and our church. Being a new and smaller church we have limited resources and volunteers so any training or cross training we can receive is crucial to our operations and budget.

Our tech team is brewing with excitement and already looking at our sound board like a new toy that can do more then we ever imagined. I feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel of sound. I have also learned a respect for sound and that there is more to sound then meets the eye. (or should I say ear)”
pixel- Rob, lead technical volunteer at another church; comments on a sound training class I presented.
